Some help for a friend
May. 5th, 2009 09:07 pmHi, Lauren
sifukatara
has written up a survey for an article she plans to write on Disney fandom among teens and young adults. I'm going to take it, and I'd love it if anyone else who sees it does the same. I'm also planning to post it on MC, and possibly Facebook if I can, so if anyone sees it multiple times, it isn't spam.
Disney Survey One: Disney Movies:
Disney Movie Survey:
Name: Kathleen
Age: 24
Do you like watching Disney movies? Yes.
How long have you been watching them? Pretty much all my life!
Do you still watch them? Yes, when I have the time.
On average, how many Disney movies would you say you watch per month? Maybe two on average.
Do you get criticized for liking them? Not really, but the thought that I might be can prevent me from talking about my love of Disney to other people.
If so, what has been your response? If I'm criticised, or just think I'm going to be, I first try to empress upon whomever I'm talking to that ther is more to the movie or cartoon than meets the eye, either by talking about the people who made the movie, or pointing out some things about the movie/cartoon that gives it a mature angle, Ex. Lilo and Stitch opening in a courtroom, and other things which make it different than other kids shows/movies. If that doesn't work, I just declaire them a lost cause, and try and stay away from them.
Favorite Disney Movie (s) when you were younger?: The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Lady and the Tramp, Snow White, Alice In Wonderland, (mostly for the actors, and because it was one of the few I had in a discriptive version), 101 Dalmatians, Cindarella, Pete's Dragon, The Lion King and The Jungle Book.
Have they changed much over the years?: Some of the ones I've listed as my favorites I haven't seen in a long time, and some may no longer be my favorites, but for the most part they still are. Of course Lilo and Stitch has been added, along with all its sequels, and I've also learned to appreciate older movies like The Fox and the Hound and Peter Pan.
Anything else you would like to add? Anyone who believes Disney movies are strictly for kids isn't watching them correctly.
Survey 2: Disney Music
Disney Music Survey:
Name: Kate
Age: 24
Do you enjoy listening to Disney music? Yes, quite a bit.
How long have you been listening to Disney music?: Pretty much since I could remember, but since I had a lot of Disney music on cassette, I listened to a lot of songs before I ever saw the movies they were from.
Do you still listen to it?: Yes, from time to time.
What is your favorite Soundtrack?: Full soundtrack? The Little Mermaid, Bambi or Pete's Dragon, although the latter I haven't heard in many years.
Do you get criticized for liking it? Not really. Most of the people I know are open-minded when it comes to that sort of thing.
If so, what has been your response? NA
Favorite Disney Music when you were younger?: Music from all things Winnie the Pooh, some from Pinocchio, some from Peter Pan, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Lady and the Tramp, Snow White, Cindarella, the TV show Adventures In Wonderland, Disney sing alongs, and cassettes like Disney Travel Songs and Disney Food Songs with Mickey, Goofy and Co.
Has it changed much over the years?: I've added some music from the Disney sequels, and some from the Disney Princess vidioes, (although I've never seen any of these), but other than that not really.
Anything else you would like to add? Nope, I think that about says it all.
